◉ Gut disbiosys & acidosis

What it is:
Gut dysbiosis is an imbalance in the trillions of bacteria living in the gut, where harmful species crowd out beneficial ones and the gut environment turns acidic. Over time this damages the gut lining, a barrier only one cell thick, until it becomes “leaky”. Undigested food particles and bacterial toxins then pass into the bloodstream, triggering inflammation throughout the body, while the essential nutrients the body needs leak out unabsorbed. In this patient, it ran silently for years.
Sources / Triggers:
Gluten- and wheat-heavy diet, high sugar intake, frequently skipped meals, chronic work stress, absence of probiotic or nutritional support, long-term use of post-stent medications.
Mechanism:
The gut lining is a single layer of cells sealed by "tight junctions". Gluten releases zonulin, which prises these open, while dysbiosis and acidity erode the lining further. Food particles and bacterial toxins then leak into the blood, provoking an immune attack and inflammation with every meal, while nutrients go unabsorbed. Dr Lee's live blood analysis showed exactly this: food particles, fibrin strands and crystallisation. Chronic inflammation and silent nutrient starvation became the soil for all eleven of his conditions.
Ischemic Heart Disease (2 Stents) — Development:
- A gluten- and wheat-heavy diet, high sugar intake, skipped meals and years of undue work stress disrupted his gut bacteria and turned his gut acidic, while gluten repeatedly prised open the tight junctions of his gut lining.
- His gut wall became permeable — a leaky gut — though he felt no digestive symptoms at all.
- Undigested food particles and bacterial endotoxins passed into his bloodstream, visible as food particles in his live blood.
- His immune system attacked them continuously, releasing inflammatory cytokines into his circulation day after day.
- These cytokines damaged the endothelium, the delicate inner lining of his coronary arteries.
- The damaged artery walls drew in cholesterol, immune cells and fibrin to patch the injury, building plaque, while the same inflammation made his blood sticky and prone to clotting.
- Plaque narrowed three of his coronary arteries, two by more than 70%, until in 2019 the restricted blood flow caused a silent heart attack that required two stents.
Heart Failure — Development:
- His gluten-heavy diet, high sugar intake, irregular meals and chronic stress kept his gut dysbiotic, acidic and leaky.
- A constant stream of endotoxins and inflammatory cytokines entered his bloodstream from his gut.
- Some of these cytokines directly weaken the contraction of heart muscle cells.
- His narrowed coronary arteries starved the heart muscle of oxygen, and the 2019 heart attack damaged part of it.
- His leaky gut failed to absorb the magnesium and selenium that heart muscle needs to generate energy and contract strongly.
- Weakened, inflamed and under-nourished, his heart muscle lost pumping strength.
- His heart could no longer pump efficiently enough to meet his body's needs — heart failure — showing as breathlessness and tiredness.
High Cholesterol — Development:
- His gluten-heavy, high-sugar diet and chronic stress disrupted his gut bacteria and damaged his gut lining.
- Healthy gut bacteria help the body excrete cholesterol through bile; with dysbiosis, more cholesterol was reabsorbed instead of eliminated.
- Endotoxins leaking through his gut travelled straight to his liver through the portal vein.
- His inflamed liver increased its production of cholesterol, which the body uses to repair damaged tissue and vessel walls.
- The ongoing inflammation in his arteries kept signalling for more cholesterol to patch the damage.
- Production rose while elimination fell, and his blood cholesterol climbed — unnoticed, because it had never been checked.
Pre-Diabetes — Development:
- His high-sugar, wheat-based diet and irregular meals fed harmful gut bacteria and damaged his gut lining.
- Endotoxins leaked through his gut into his bloodstream.
- These endotoxins inflamed his liver, muscles and fat tissue.
- Inflammatory cytokines interfered with the insulin receptors on his cells, so they responded less to insulin — insulin resistance.
- The loss of beneficial gut bacteria also reduced the gut hormones that help regulate blood sugar after meals.
- His pancreas had to release more and more insulin to keep his blood sugar in check.
- His blood sugar gradually rose into the pre-diabetic range.
Other Conditions — Development:
- His gluten-heavy diet, high sugar intake, skipped meals and chronic stress kept his gut dysbiotic and leaky for years.
- His damaged gut absorbed iodine, selenium, magnesium, zinc and amino acids poorly, and the immune tissue lining his gut — around 70% of the body's total — was weakened.
- Short of iodine and selenium, and inflamed by an immune response to leaking gluten, his thyroid grew uneven tissue that formed a cyst, pressing on his throat and causing choking sensations.
- Gut-derived cytokines sensitised his pain nerves, while low magnesium and reduced gut serotonin left his muscles tense and painful — fibromyalgia — and chronic inflammation with poor protein absorption broke his muscle down faster than it could rebuild — muscular atrophy.
- With his immunity weakened, a chronic infection settled in his left middle ear; the infected fluid built pressure behind his ear drum, and with its collagen repair impaired by low zinc and vitamin C, the ear drum ruptured.
- Sticky blood and inflamed small vessels starved his inner ear of oxygen; combined with low magnesium, the hair cells of his cochlea fired false signals — tinnitus — and his balance organ sent mismatched signals — vertigo.
- One root cause in the gut thus surfaced as seven seemingly unrelated conditions across his thyroid, muscles, nerves and ears.
◉ Toxins & Heavy-metals

What it is:
Toxicity is the build-up of harmful substances in the body faster than the liver, kidneys and gut can clear them. These include heavy metals, chemical pollutants and toxins absorbed from the gut. Heavy metals are especially damaging because the body cannot break them down; they lodge in organs and blood vessels for years, generating free radicals and displacing essential minerals. In this patient, toxicity was uncovered at his follow-up reviews, and had been inflaming his blood vessels and heart.
Sources/Triggers:
Urban air pollution and vehicle exhaust, pesticide and chemical residues in food, food additives and preservatives, contaminated water, plastics and household chemicals, long-term pharmaceutical medications.
Mechanism:
Heavy metals and toxins harm the body in three ways. They generate free radicals, causing oxidative stress — a "rusting" of cells and blood. They displace essential minerals such as zinc, magnesium and selenium from the enzymes that depend on them. And they overload the liver, slowing detoxification further. In this patient, a leaky gut kept letting toxins in while his liver struggled to clear them. Dr Lee's live blood analysis showed crystallisation and oxidative stress, and follow-up reviews confirmed toxicity inflaming his vessels and heart.
Ischemic Heart Disease (2 Stents) — Development:
- Decades of urban exposure, a leaky gut letting toxins into his blood, low selenium and magnesium, and no periodic detoxification allowed heavy metals and toxins to accumulate faster than his overwhelmed liver could clear them.
- Heavy metals lodged in the walls of his blood vessels, where the body has no way to break them down.
- There they generated a constant stream of free radicals — the oxidative stress, or "rusting", visible in his live blood.
- Free radicals damaged the endothelium of his coronary arteries and oxidised his LDL cholesterol, turning it into the sticky form that lodges in artery walls.
- Heavy metals also displaced zinc and magnesium from the enzymes that keep arteries flexible, reducing nitric oxide and stiffening his vessels.
- His inflamed, oxidised artery walls steadily accumulated plaque.
- Plaque narrowed three of his coronary arteries, two by more than 70%, until in 2019 the restricted blood flow caused a silent heart attack that required two stents.
Heart Failure — Development:
- His leaky gut, impaired liver detoxification, low detoxifying minerals and lack of periodic detoxification allowed heavy metals and toxins to build up in his body.
- Heavy metals accumulated in the tissue of his heart muscle.
- They poisoned the mitochondria — the energy generators — inside his heart muscle cells, cutting their energy supply.
- The resulting oxidative stress kept his heart muscle chronically inflamed.
- Heavy metals displaced selenium and magnesium, two minerals the heart muscle relies on to protect itself and contract properly.
- Combined with narrowed arteries and the damage from his 2019 heart attack, his heart muscle steadily lost strength.
- His heart could no longer pump efficiently enough to meet his body's needs — heart failure.
High Cholesterol — Development:
- His leaky gut, impaired liver detoxification, low detoxifying minerals and lack of periodic detoxification allowed toxins and heavy metals to accumulate.
- His liver, the body's main detoxification organ, became overloaded and congested.
- The liver clears both toxins and cholesterol through bile; as bile flow slowed, less cholesterol was excreted.
- Heavy metals impaired the liver's ability to pull LDL cholesterol out of the blood.
- Oxidative damage to his blood vessels signalled the liver to produce even more cholesterol for repair.
- With clearance falling and production rising, his blood cholesterol climbed.
Pre-Diabetes — Development:
- His leaky gut, impaired liver detoxification, low detoxifying minerals and lack of periodic detoxification allowed toxins and heavy metals to accumulate.
- Toxins and heavy metals built up in his pancreas, liver and muscles.
- Oxidative stress damaged the insulin-producing beta cells of his pancreas, which have very weak antioxidant defences of their own.
- Heavy metals interfered with insulin receptor signalling, making it harder for glucose to enter his cells.
- His toxin-burdened liver released more glucose into his blood than his body needed.
- His blood sugar gradually rose into the pre-diabetic range.
Other Conditions — Development:
- His leaky gut, impaired liver detoxification, low detoxifying minerals and lack of periodic detoxification allowed toxins and heavy metals to accumulate throughout his body.
- Heavy metals displaced the iodine and selenium his thyroid depends on and exposed it to oxidative damage, inflaming the gland until uneven tissue growth formed a cyst that pressed on his throat — his choking sensations.
- Heavy metals are toxic to nerves and muscles: they sensitised his pain nerves and settled in his muscle tissue, causing widespread pain — fibromyalgia — while poisoning muscle mitochondria and protein building, wasting his muscles — muscular atrophy.
- Heavy metals are also toxic to the inner ear, damaging the hair cells of his cochlea, which fired false signals — tinnitus — and disturbing his balance organ — vertigo.
- His toxin-suppressed immune system failed to clear a chronic infection in his left middle ear, and the inflamed, weakened ear drum eventually ruptured.
- One accumulated toxic burden thus surfaced as seven seemingly unrelated conditions across his thyroid, muscles, nerves and ears.
◉ Essential-nutrients deficiency

What it is:
Essential nutrients are the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids the body cannot make for itself and must obtain from food. Every cell needs them to produce energy, repair damage, regulate hormones and defend against disease. A deficiency develops when intake is poor, absorption fails, or the body uses them up faster than they are replaced. Dr Lee found this patient deficient in key minerals, notably magnesium and selenium — in his own words, a bucket with a hole.
Sources/Triggers:
Nutrient-poor wheat-based diet, frequently skipped meals, high sugar intake depleting minerals, chronic stress, malabsorption from a leaky gut, mineral displacement by heavy metals, long-term pharmaceutical medications, absence of nutritional supplementation.
Mechanism:
Nutrients are the raw materials of every bodily process. Minerals such as magnesium and selenium act as cofactors for hundreds of enzymes, controlling energy production, heart rhythm, blood vessel tone, antioxidant defence and hormone production. When they run short, these processes slow down quietly, long before any test flags a disease. In this patient, a leaky gut let nutrients pass through unabsorbed, while toxins displaced the minerals he did absorb. Dr Lee's blood tests confirmed malnutrition and mineral deficiency.
Ischemic Heart Disease (2 Stents) — Development:
- A nutrient-poor, wheat-based diet, frequently skipped meals, high sugar intake, chronic stress and a leaky gut that absorbed poorly left him deficient in essential minerals, especially magnesium and selenium.
- Magnesium keeps artery walls relaxed and keeps calcium in its proper place; without enough of it, his arteries stayed constricted and calcium began depositing in his vessel walls.
- Selenium powers one of the body's main antioxidant enzymes; without it, free radicals went unchecked in his blood vessels.
- Unchecked oxidative stress damaged the endothelium of his coronary arteries and oxidised his LDL cholesterol.
- Lacking the vitamins, minerals and amino acids needed for repair, his damaged artery walls could not heal properly.
- Plaque built up at the sites of unrepaired damage, hardened by deposited calcium.
- Plaque narrowed three of his coronary arteries, two by more than 70%, until in 2019 the restricted blood flow caused a silent heart attack that required two stents.
Heart Failure — Development:
- His nutrient-poor diet, skipped meals, high sugar intake, chronic stress and poor gut absorption left him deficient in essential minerals and vitamins.
- The heart is the most energy-hungry muscle in the body, and its energy production depends on magnesium and B vitamins.
- Short of magnesium, his heart muscle cells generated less energy and contracted less forcefully.
- Selenium deficiency, a well-documented cause of weakened heart muscle, left his heart cells exposed to oxidative damage.
- Without enough amino acids and minerals, the damage from his 2019 heart attack could not be fully repaired.
- His heart muscle progressively weakened.
- His heart could no longer pump efficiently enough to meet his body's needs — heart failure.
High Cholesterol — Development:
- His nutrient-poor diet, skipped meals, high sugar intake and poor gut absorption left him deficient in essential minerals and vitamins.
- Magnesium regulates the liver enzyme that controls cholesterol production; with too little magnesium, that enzyme stayed overactive.
- His liver lacked vitamin C and the other cofactors it needs to convert cholesterol into bile acids for excretion.
- Low antioxidant reserves allowed his LDL cholesterol to oxidise, signalling damage throughout his blood vessels.
- His liver responded by producing still more cholesterol for repair.
- With production high and conversion low, his blood cholesterol climbed.
Pre-Diabetes — Development:
- His high sugar intake, nutrient-poor diet, chronic stress and poor gut absorption left him deficient in magnesium and other essential minerals.
- Magnesium is essential for insulin receptor signalling; with too little, his cells responded poorly to insulin — insulin resistance.
- Chromium and zinc, which insulin also depends on, were in short supply.
- His pancreas had to release more and more insulin to keep his blood sugar in check.
- His high sugar intake drained his magnesium further, creating a vicious cycle.
- His blood sugar gradually rose into the pre-diabetic range.
Other Conditions — Development:
- His nutrient-poor diet, skipped meals, high sugar intake, chronic stress and leaky gut left him deficient in essential minerals across his whole body.
- Short of iodine, his thyroid was stimulated to grow extra tissue to capture more of it, and short of selenium it lacked protection from oxidative damage; uneven growth formed a cyst that pressed on his throat — his choking sensations.
- Without enough magnesium his muscles could not fully relax and his nerves became over-excitable, causing widespread pain — fibromyalgia — while a shortfall of amino acids and minerals left his muscles unable to rebuild — muscular atrophy.
- Magnesium, zinc and antioxidants protect the delicate hair cells of the inner ear; without them, his cochlea fired false signals — tinnitus — and his balance organ was disturbed — vertigo.
- Low zinc, selenium and vitamin C weakened his immunity, allowing a chronic infection to settle in his left middle ear, and impaired the collagen repair of his ear drum until it ruptured.
- One root cause — a body quietly starved of essential nutrients — thus surfaced as seven seemingly unrelated conditions across his thyroid, muscles, nerves and ears.
◉ Hormonal imbalances

What it is:
Hormones are the body’s chemical messengers, produced by glands such as the thyroid, adrenals and sex glands, and carried in the blood to control metabolism, energy, heart function, muscle mass, mood and repair. A hormonal imbalance arises when a gland produces too much or too little, or when cells stop responding properly. Because hormones regulate one another, a single imbalance quickly spreads to others. Dr Lee identified hormonal deficiency and imbalance in this patient at his first consultation.
Sources/Triggers:
Chronic mental stress, natural age-related hormonal decline, mineral deficiency (iodine, selenium, zinc, magnesium), heavy metals and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, gut dysbiosis, high sugar intake, long-term pharmaceutical medications.
Mechanism:
The endocrine system works like an orchestra: the thyroid sets the body's metabolic pace, the adrenal glands manage stress, and sex hormones maintain muscle, blood vessels and the heart. Each gland needs minerals to make its hormones and is easily disrupted by toxins and inflammation. In this patient, years of undue stress, mineral deficiency, heavy metals and gut-driven inflammation, on top of natural ageing, pushed his hormones out of balance. Dr Lee identified this at his first consultation.
Ischemic Heart Disease (2 Stents) — Development:
- Years of undue work stress, deficiency of iodine, selenium, zinc and magnesium, accumulated heavy metals, gut-driven inflammation and natural age-related decline pushed his hormones out of balance.
- Chronic stress kept his cortisol and adrenaline elevated, constricting his arteries and raising the strain on his heart.
- Low thyroid function slowed his metabolism, so his liver cleared LDL cholesterol more slowly and more of it circulated in his blood.
- Declining sex hormones, which help keep artery walls flexible and calm inflammation, left his blood vessel lining less protected.
- Stress hormones and inflammation together damaged the endothelium of his coronary arteries and made his blood more prone to clotting.
- Plaque built up steadily in his damaged arteries.
- Plaque narrowed three of his coronary arteries, two by more than 70%, until in 2019 the restricted blood flow caused a silent heart attack that required two stents.
Heart Failure — Development:
- Chronic stress, mineral deficiency, heavy metals, gut-driven inflammation and age-related decline pushed his hormones out of balance.
- Thyroid hormone sets the strength and pace of heart muscle contraction; with low thyroid function, his heart beat less forcefully.
- Persistently high stress hormones overworked his heart, raising its oxygen demand while his narrowed arteries limited the supply.
- Declining sex hormones reduced his heart muscle's ability to maintain and repair itself.
- The damage from his 2019 heart attack could not be fully repaired.
- Overworked and under-supported, his heart muscle steadily weakened.
- His heart could no longer pump efficiently enough to meet his body's needs — heart failure.
High Cholesterol — Development:
- Chronic stress, mineral deficiency, heavy metals, gut-driven inflammation and age-related decline pushed his hormones out of balance.
- Thyroid hormone controls the receptors on the liver that pull LDL cholesterol out of the blood; with low thyroid function, he had fewer of them.
- Chronically high cortisol pushed his liver to produce more cholesterol and fats.
- Declining sex hormones shifted his cholesterol balance further in the wrong direction.
- With clearance falling and production rising, cholesterol accumulated in his blood.
- His blood cholesterol climbed — unnoticed, because it had never been checked.
Pre-Diabetes — Development:
- Chronic stress, mineral deficiency, heavy metals, gut-driven inflammation and age-related decline pushed his hormones out of balance.
- Cortisol raises blood sugar by releasing stored glucose from the liver, and his was chronically elevated.
- Persistently high cortisol also made his cells resistant to insulin.
- Low thyroid function slowed the rate at which his cells used glucose.
- Declining sex hormones encouraged fat to build up around his organs, worsening his insulin resistance.
- His pancreas had to release more and more insulin to keep his blood sugar in check.
- His blood sugar gradually rose into the pre-diabetic range.
Other Conditions — Development:
- Chronic stress, mineral deficiency, heavy metals, gut-driven inflammation and age-related decline pushed his hormones out of balance.
- Starved of iodine and selenium, his thyroid was repeatedly stimulated to grow, and uneven tissue formed a cyst that pressed on his throat — his choking sensations — while his sluggish thyroid left him cold-intolerant and tired.
- High cortisol broke down his muscle while low thyroid and sex hormones slowed its rebuilding — muscular atrophy — and the same imbalance heightened his pain sensitivity and disturbed his sleep — fibromyalgia.
- The inner ear depends on thyroid hormone for normal function; the imbalance disturbed his hearing and balance organs, contributing to tinnitus and vertigo.
- Chronically high cortisol suppressed his immunity, allowing a chronic infection to persist in his left middle ear until his weakened ear drum ruptured.
- One hormonal imbalance thus surfaced as seven seemingly unrelated conditions across his thyroid, muscles, nerves and ears.
PHASE 2: TREATMENT
The primary objectives of the treatment:
- Clear (or reduce to the minimal) accumulated plaque from coronary arteries; and, open-up new collateral capillaries to restore normal blood-flow to the heart.
- Treat all the root causes to arterial plaque-formation.
- Optimise the condition and function of all organs.
No one therapy or treatment modality can achieve these objectives alone. An integration — a strategic combination — of various therapies is necessary. This is what is called an Integrative & Holistic Treatment — and one of its most powerful characteristics is that all of this patient’s conditions were treated simultaneously, inducing healing across the whole body rather than addressing each disease in isolation.
The following therapies were strategically integrated and administered to the patient:

✙ Detoxification Therapy
What it is:
Oral Detoxification & Chelation Therapy uses orally taken chelating agents, binders and liver-supporting nutrients that latch onto heavy metals and toxins and carry them out of the body through urine and stool. Detoxification supports the liver’s own clearance pathways, while chelation pulls out the heavy metals the body cannot break down on its own. It was introduced once Dr Lee’s follow-up reviews revealed the toxicity inflaming this patient’s blood vessels and heart.

Used for:
- Binding and removing accumulated heavy metals from his blood, tissues and blood vessel walls.
- Supporting the liver’s phase I and phase II detoxification pathways to clear chemical toxins.
- Restoring healthy bile flow so that toxins and excess cholesterol are excreted through the gut.
- Binding toxins within the gut so they are excreted rather than reabsorbed through his leaky gut lining.
- Reducing the free radical load generated by heavy metals in his blood and tissues.
- Freeing the binding sites of essential minerals — magnesium, zinc and selenium — displaced by heavy metals.
- Removing endocrine-disrupting chemicals that interfere with thyroid and other hormone function.
- Lowering the toxic burden on his kidneys’ filtration and excretion.
Effects:
- Reduction in oxidative stress and inflammation in the walls of his coronary arteries, slowing the plaque formation behind his ischemic heart disease.
- Restoration of endothelial function and arterial flexibility, improving blood flow through his narrowed coronary arteries.
- Reduction in blood stickiness and clotting tendency, lowering the risk of further blockage in his coronary arteries.
- Relief of the toxic burden on his heart muscle mitochondria, improving the energy and pumping strength of his failing heart.
- Normalisation of liver function and cholesterol clearance, addressing his high cholesterol.
- Protection of his pancreatic beta cells and improved insulin receptor signalling in his pre-diabetes.
- Normalisation of thyroid function, supporting reduction of his thyroid cyst and cold intolerance.
- Restoration of immune function to clear his chronic left middle-ear infection.
✙ Oral Nutrition therapy
What it is:
Oral Nutrition Therapy supplies the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants the body is deficient in, through carefully selected oral nutritional formulations. In this patient it included a mineral-rich formulation containing magnesium and selenium, combined with salt therapy using natural sea salt, bamboo salt and iodised salt to restore his depleted minerals and iodine. It worked hand in hand with healing his gut, so that what he took in was finally absorbed — patching the bucket before filling it.

Used for:
- Replenishing magnesium, the mineral cofactor for energy production, heart rhythm and blood vessel relaxation.
- Restoring selenium to power the antioxidant enzymes that neutralise free radicals and support detoxification.
- Supplying iodine through iodised salt, and trace minerals through natural sea salt and bamboo salt, to restore mineral balance.
- Providing the raw materials for thyroid, adrenal and sex hormone production.
- Supporting repair of the gut lining so that nutrients are absorbed instead of leaking away.
- Supplying amino acids, zinc and vitamin C for collagen synthesis and tissue repair in blood vessel walls, muscle and the ear drum.
- Restoring the mineral cofactors of insulin signalling — magnesium, chromium and zinc.
- Rebuilding the body’s antioxidant reserve to protect cells from oxidative damage.
Effects:
- Relaxation and improved flexibility of his coronary arteries, and reduced calcium deposition in their walls, addressing his ischemic heart disease.
- Repair of his damaged endothelium and prevention of new plaque formation in his coronary arteries.
- Restoration of energy production and contractile strength in his heart muscle, addressing his heart failure, tiredness and breathlessness.
- Normalisation of the liver’s cholesterol production and conversion, addressing his high cholesterol.
Improvement in insulin sensitivity and blood sugar regulation in his pre-diabetes. - Normalisation of thyroid function and reduced thyroid stimulation, addressing his thyroid cyst, choking sensations and cold intolerance.
- Relaxation of his muscles and calming of over-excited nerves, addressing his fibromyalgia, shoulder pain and sleep disturbances.
- Rebuilding of muscle tissue in his muscular atrophy.
✙ Herbal Therapy
What it is:
Herbal Therapy uses carefully selected medicinal herbs, prescribed according to each patient’s individual condition, to support and restore the function of specific organs and systems. In this patient, Dr Lee prescribed herbs to support his heart and to help rebalance his hormones. Herbs act gently and in combination, which suits a patient whose conditions shared common roots across several organ systems.

Used for:
- Supporting the energy production and contractile function of the heart muscle.
- Improving circulation and microcirculation through the coronary arteries and small blood vessels.
- Reducing inflammation in blood vessel walls and tissues.
- Supporting the thyroid, adrenal and sex glands in restoring hormonal balance.
- Moderating the stress-hormone response driven by years of undue stress.
- Supporting liver detoxification and healthy bile flow.
- Soothing the gut and supporting repair of the gut lining.
- Supplying plant antioxidants that neutralise free radicals.
Effects:
- Improved blood flow and reduced inflammation in his coronary arteries, addressing his ischemic heart disease.
- Reduced blood stickiness, lowering the clotting tendency behind his heart attack.
- Strengthening of heart muscle function in his heart failure, easing his breathlessness and tiredness.
- Support of the liver’s cholesterol metabolism in his high cholesterol.
- Improved blood sugar regulation, as his stress hormones settled, in his pre-diabetes.
- Rebalancing of thyroid function, supporting his thyroid cyst and cold intolerance.
- Reduced pain sensitivity and improved sleep in his fibromyalgia.
- Support of muscle rebuilding in his muscular atrophy as his hormones rebalanced.
- Reduced inflammation and improved immunity against his left middle-ear infection.
✙ Bio-identical hormone therapy
What it is:
Bio-identical Hormone Therapy restores deficient hormones using hormones that are molecularly identical to those the body makes naturally, so the body recognises and uses them as its own. Dosing is tailored to the patient’s blood results and adjusted at each review. In this patient, it corrected the hormonal deficiency and imbalance Dr Lee identified at his first consultation, alongside the nutrients his glands needed to resume their own production.

Used for:
- Restoring deficient hormones to healthy levels.
Re-establishing the balance between the thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones. - Supporting the hormonal regulation of metabolism and cellular energy production.
- Restoring the hormonal signals that keep blood vessel walls flexible and free of inflammation.
- Supporting the hormonal control of the liver’s cholesterol metabolism.
- Restoring hormonal support for muscle protein building and tissue repair.
- Moderating the effects of chronically elevated stress hormones.
- Supporting the hormonal regulation of immunity and sleep.
Effects:
- Improved flexibility and reduced inflammation of his coronary arteries, addressing his ischemic heart disease.
- Restored contractile strength and repair capacity of his heart muscle in his heart failure.
- Reduced strain on his heart as the effects of chronic stress hormones eased.
- Improved liver clearance of LDL cholesterol in his high cholesterol.
- Improved insulin sensitivity and reduced fat build-up around his organs in his pre-diabetes.
- Normalised thyroid regulation, addressing his thyroid cyst and cold intolerance.
- Restored muscle building in his muscular atrophy.
Reduced pain sensitivity and improved sleep quality in his fibromyalgia. - Support of normal inner-ear function in his tinnitus and vertigo.
✙ Wholesome Food therapy
What it is:
Wholesome Food Therapy uses food itself as medicine, through a personalised food prescription that removes the foods driving disease and adds functional foods that help the body heal. For this patient, that meant a strictly gluten- and wheat-free diet close to a paleolithic style, low in sugar, with regular meals and functional foods prescribed by Dr Lee. His daily food charting allowed Dr Lee to fine-tune the prescription at every review.

Used for:
- Removing gluten, the trigger that kept opening the tight junctions of his gut lining.
- Cutting refined sugar to starve harmful gut bacteria and steady his blood sugar and insulin.
